• Explanation : After the funeral of Lazarus in Bethany had been finished, Jesus visited his Friends, and went to the graveyard. Then, he called Lazarus to come out of the tomb.

 At the other time, Jesus was invited to His Friends home for dinner. Mary, the sister of Lazarus, treated Jesus in a especial way. She washed the feet of Jesus with her tears, dried them with her long hair, and anointed the feet of Jesus with a very expensive narwastu oil, that filled the whole house with an exclusive fragrance.

  The apostle Jude of Iscariot was upset. For him, it would be better sold for 300 dinar and given to the poor. But Jesus defended Mary, saying: “The poor will always be there, I will not. So she is doing it for my funeral” (John 12:1-8)

• Penjelasan : Setelah pemakaman Lazarus di Betania selesai, Yesus mengunjungi temannya itu, dan pergi ke makamnya. Lalu, Yesus memanggil Lazarus keluar dari kuburnya.

Pada saat yang lain, Yesus diundang ke temanNya untuk makan malam. Maria, adik dari Lazarus, memperlakukan Yesus dengan cara yang istimewa. Dia membasuh kaki Yesus dengan air matanya, lalu mengeringkannya dengan rambut panjangnya, serta meminyakinya dengan Narwastu yang sangat mahal, sehingga seluruh rumah dipenuhi aroma yang eksklusif. Rasul Yesus, Yudas Iskariot marah. Menurutnya, minyak itu lebih baik dijual dengan harga 300 dinar, untuk kemudian diberikan kepada orang miskin. Namun Yesus membela Maria, kataNya “Orang miskin akan selalu ada, namun Saya tidak. Dia melakukan itu untuk pemakaman Saya” (Yoh 12:1-8).
